The Zimbabwe cricket team is the national cricket team that represents Zimbabwe in international cricket.They are governed by Zimbabwe Cricket Board (ZC).Their Test status was granted on 1992.They played their first test match at Harare against India on 1992.Zimbabwe is the ninth test cricket playing nation. Unfortunately, the ongoing political crises have been making an impact on the team .During the 2003 World Cup,which was jointly hosted by Zimbabwe and South Africa two players of the Zimbabwean team were dismissed from the team.Andy Flower and Henry Olonga wore Black Arm Bands to mourn the death of democracy in Zimbabwe. Their test status have always been in threat due to their poor performance in test matches.On 2006 the team announced its non-paticipation in the test matches for the year as they were not up to the mark.Many players have opted out of the team to continue their cricket career overseas due to the politics in the selection committee. Recently England voiced their opinion about banning the Zimbabwean team from playing international cricket due to the democracy crisis in the country.They are currently in 11th position in ICC ODI ranking.They were not included in the ICC test ranking as they had not played the required number of test matches this year.Prosper Utseya is the captain of the Zimbabwe team.
