Sri Lanka Inter-Provincial Tournament

The Inter-Provincial Tournament is a domestic cricket competition held in SriLanka between the various provinces of SriLanka.The tournament's primary aim is to improve the standards of domestic cricket in SriLanka and to bridge the gap between International cricket and Domestic cricket.

The tournament began on 2007 with Limited over tournament,which was then followed by Twenty20 tournament in 2008.The Limited overs Tournament has 5 participants representing Basnahira North,Basnahira South,Wayamba,Ruhuna and Kandurata provinces.The finals of the first edition of the tournament ended in a draw between Kandurata and Wayamba province due to rain.

The Twenty20 tournament is contested by 6 particpants of which 5 represent the provinces while the last one Schools Invitation XI have players from the national under 19 cricket team.All the participating teams play each other once after which the top four is selected for the super four round.At the end of the Super Four Round the top two team is selected to play the finals against each other.The winning team is awarded a cash prize of Rs 2,250,000 while the runner's up receive Rs 1,125,000.The Man of the tournament and the Man of the match for finals is encouraged with cash prize of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively.The first edition of this tournament was won by the Wayamba Province.
