The NKP Challenger Trophy is a List A domestic cricket competition held in India.It was started in the year 1994 as Challenger Trophy which was latter renamed as NKP Salve Challenger Trophy after the BCCI's former preseident.The Challenger Trophy is a day-night tournament which takes place every year in october just before the start of Ranji Trophy.The tournament was started to showcase the talent of the young players.The tournament brings in the best 36 players in Indian cricket to clash for the trophy.
The teams that participate in the tournament are were earlier known as India Seniors ,India A and India B.The team names were changed to India Blue ,India Red and India Green respectively in the 2006 season.The India Blue team have been very successful having 9 wins including the draw with India Red team to their name.They are the current (2007/08) winners of the Challenger Series.
