The Indian Cricket League is a private league founded in the year 2007.It all started when ZeeTeleFilims part of the Essel group promoted by Subhash Candra was denied of the Broadcasting Rights several times on the grounds that they were not experienced.Hence they started their own league to create cricket content for their channel.The Indian Cricket league is not recognized by the BCCI and the ICC.Due to which many national cricket boards around the world have warned their players against joining the league.Some players were banned for participating in the league despite the warning.The cricket format for ICL is 20-20.The winning team is awarded with a cash prize of US $1 Million.Hydrabad Heroes are the current champion of the Indian Cricket League Edelweiss 20s challenge.The Indian cricket league 20s world series held on 2008 is the first international tournament organized by ICL.They have three teams ICL India ,ICL Pakistan and ICL world.ICL India is the current champion of the world series.
