The Ford Ranger One day cup is a Domestic A list cricket competition held in Australia and is governed by Cricket Australia.The first tournament was played in 1969-1970 which had the Australian state teams and the New Zealand team participating.New Zealand however stopped participating in the tournament with their last season in the tournament being 1974-1975.The tournament format is Round Robin which is then followed by the finals while the cricket format is one day series.The Ford Ranger One day Cup have undergone several name change along with the sponsors in the past.
It was known as
Vehicle and general Australasian Knock out competition in 1969-1970 and 1970-1971 season.
Coca - Cola Austalasian Knock out competition in 1972-1973 and 1973-1974 season.
Gillette cup from 1973-1974 to 1978-1979 season.
McDonald's cup from 1979-1980 to 1987-1988 season.
FAI cup from 1988-1989 to 1991-1992.
Mercantile Mutual cup from 1992-1993 .
ING cup from 1993-1994 to 2005-2006 season.
Ford Ranger cup from 2006-2007 .
During the initial days of the tournament they followed the knock out format which was replaced by two pool system in 1979-1980.In 1992-1993 season the format was changed to Round Robin till semifinals which was then followed by Knock out.Another team named Canberra Comets were introduced in the 1997-1998 season ,they however lasted for only three season and were removed from the tournament during the 2000-2001 season.In 2000-2001 season the tournament format was changed to the current format of Round Robin followed by the finals.The current champions of the Ford Ranger One day cup is the Tasmanian team.Western Australia is the most succesful team having 11 titles to their name .
